Exciting leadership position in a pioneering optics scale-up
For our client ABH Optics, we are looking for a hands-on and technically strong Chief Technical Officer (CTO) with deep expertise in optics and nano-optics.
In this role, you will lead and further develop the company’s optical technologies and products, and over time help shape and scale production capabilities. You will play a central role in bridging advanced optical engineering with business understanding, product development, and high-precision manufacturing in a small, highly specialized team.
ABH Optics is a pioneer in the eyewear industry and has developed a novel type of eyeglass lens based on cutting-edge nanotechnology, originating from a Health Tech project at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The company’s patented meta-optics manufacturing process enables lenses that are up to 90% thinner and lighter than conventional lenses.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the technical team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and high performance
- Provide technical leadership within optics, including design, testing, validation, and optimization of optical systems
- Oversee product development from early concept through industrialization and production readiness
- Ensure effective collaboration between R&D, production, and external suppliers and technology partners
- Support continuous improvement of production processes and product quality once prototypes are approved
- Work closely with management to align technical strategy with overall business goals
- Participate in commercial discussions together with management, including customer dialogues and investor interactions
Your Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree (or PhD) in Optics, Physics, or a related field, preferably with knowledge of nanotechnology or nano-optics
- Strong and proven technical expertise within optics and high-precision optical systems
- Several years of experience leading and motivating a high-tech engineering team
- Solid understanding of challenges related to high-precision or advanced manufacturing environments
- Experience from a startup or scale-up environment is considered a strong advantage
- Good business understanding, including insight into financial considerations, customer requirements, and compliance with relevant medical and quality standards
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
