If you want a hands-on technical leadership role where you can strengthen connected device development and bridge software and hardware, this could be the right opportunity for you!
For our client Lattec, we are looking for a hands-on Device Tech Lead to help shape, build and integrate software for connected devices and embedded systems. This is a key technical role in Lattec’s R&D Software organisation, where you will provide day-to-day technical leadership within the Device domain while staying close to the code, hardware and architecture.
Lattec, based in Allerød, Denmark, has achieved significant international success with its advanced solutions for modern dairy farming. The company develops proactive analytical and sensor systems that monitor the health of dairy cows on farms, serving customers worldwide. Lattec has a strong multidisciplinary team of approximately 60 employees, around 30 of whom work in R&D, including software developers, hardware, electronics and mechanical engineers, as well as chemical engineers, veterinarians and biologists.
The role as Device Tech Lead
In this role, you will take technical ownership of the Device domain and translate overall technical direction into daily engineering execution. You will guide device software developers, contribute directly to development and strengthen the reliability, maintainability and integration of connected devices.
Lattec’s Tech Leads collaborate closely across Device, Backend/SRE and Frontend, recognising cross-team collaboration as essential to sharing priorities, managing dependencies and aligning technical decisions. This ensures a common direction and helps identify integration risks early.
What you will do
- Lead the day-to-day technical work within the Device domain.
- Actively contribute to device software development and remain close to the code, products, hardware and technology.
- Provide technical direction, support architectural decisions and help resolve complex technical challenges.
- Take technical ownership of hardware/software integration, ensuring robust interaction between embedded systems, connected devices and physical hardware.
- Drive good engineering practices, code quality, maintainability, testability and documentation.
- Strengthen device-level reliability, diagnostics, deployment practices and operational confidence.
- Work across our technology stack, including:
- Linux-based IoT systems
- Python
- C#/.NET on Linux
- C for MPU-based embedded systems and precise hardware control
- Work closely with Hardware and Mechanical engineering on device-level solutions and troubleshooting.
- Work with the R&D Software Lead on overall architecture, technical direction and engineering priorities.
Tech stack and your experience
We expect you to bring strong, hands-on experience with several of the core technologies and challenges in our Device domain, including:
- Linux-based IoT systems, including device software, connectivity, diagnostics and operating close to the hardware.
- Python for device software, tooling, automation, testing or data handling.
- C#/.NET development for device applications, tooling or integrations where relevant.
- C development for microcontrollers such as STM32, AVR, PIC or similar embedded platforms.
- Hardware/software integration, troubleshooting and practical debugging across software, electronics and physical device behaviour.
- Designing reliable software for physical devices where timing, robustness, maintainability and recovery matter.
- Experience with automated testing, release practices, diagnostics and maintainable development workflows for device software.
About you
You are a senior software engineer who enjoys combining hands-on development with technical leadership. You are comfortable working close to the hardware while understanding the broader software architecture, cloud/backend dependencies and user-facing product needs.
You likely bring:
- Strong device, embedded, IoT or systems software experience.
- A pragmatic approach to guiding technical decisions, fostering open collaboration and keeping momentum high.
- The ability to work across frontend, backend/SRE, device, hardware and mechanical boundaries.
- A strong focus on quality, maintainability, reliability and practical engineering trade-offs.
- The ability to communicate device constraints and risks clearly so the wider software team can make informed decisions.
Fluency in English and Danish is essential.
What makes this role different
This is a technical leadership role, not a people-management position. You lead through technical expertise, collaboration and active involvement in development, staying close to the products and technology while guiding the Device domain forward.
The Lattec mindset
- Be curious, experiment and take pride in making things work better.
- Ask “What is the system actually doing?” — not just “Is this a software problem?”
- Work across disciplines and take responsibility for the whole solution.
- Deliver precise data that helps farmers make better decisions.
- Build reliable systems that reduce downtime and give peace of mind.
- Make advanced technology simple, so customers get the value without the hassle.
Why join Lattec?
