Software Development Team Lead

Combine hands-on software development with team leadership and make a real impact on cybersecurity and global security

Are you an experienced software engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and helping other developers succeed? Do you want to combine hands-on development with team leadership and have a direct influence on the architecture and evolution of mission-critical products?
This is your opportunity to make a difference.

Our client, Arbit Cyber Defence Systems, is growing rapidly and is looking for a dedicated Software Development Team Lead to join its R&D department in Hvidovre, just outside Copenhagen.

In this key role, you will lead a team of software engineers while remaining close to the code, the architecture and the technology. You will take ownership of software releases, Linux systems and development processes, helping ensure that your team delivers robust, high-quality software that meets the highest standards of security and performance.

If you are ready to combine technical depth with people leadership and contribute to protecting critical networks and sensitive information across borders, this could be your next career move.

About Arbit Cyber Defence Systems

Arbit develops high-end network protection solutions for an international customer base, including intelligence agencies, armed forces and national governments. Its certified Cross Domain Solutions, including Data Diodes and TRUST Gateways, enable secure data transfer between networks operating at different security classification levels. With customers operating in some of the world’s most demanding security environments, Arbit plays an important role in protecting sensitive information and securing critical digital infrastructure across national borders.

Arbit’s R&D department brings together two development teams—Release and Project—alongside project management, hardware engineering and quality assurance specialists. You will join a highly skilled, collaborative environment where technical excellence, innovation and reliability are essential.

The role: Technical leadership with real influence

Reporting directly to the CTO, you will lead the Release development team, taking responsibility for its technical direction, delivery and people development. You will work closely with the CTO on technical decisions and development planning, helping translate product ambitions into robust, well-engineered solutions.
You will balance hands-on engineering with leadership, ensuring that your team has the direction, structure and support it needs to succeed.

Your key responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Software Development

  • Combine hands-on software development with responsibility for the architecture, design and continuous improvement of Arbit’s core products.
  • Develop high-performance software components for unidirectional data transfer, with a strong focus on security, reliability and maintainability.

Release Management & Linux Systems

  • Own software releases, ensuring efficient development processes, reliable CI/CD pipelines and delivery of high-quality software on time.
  • Oversee Linux systems, make sure that a good infrastructure and hardware/software integration is built.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, motivate and develop your team, creating a positive environment where people thrive, grow their skills and deliver their best work.
  • Set priorities, drive progress and represent the team within the organisation.

Collaboration & Innovation

  • Work closely with the CTO on technical decisions, architecture and development planning.
  • Collaborate with Project Development, Quality Assurance, Service Delivery and Product Management to ensure thorough testing, smooth delivery and continued product innovation.

Your background

We are looking for an experienced software engineer with a strong systems mindset and a genuine interest in leading people.

You understand that a single line of code can affect the security, reliability and performance of an entire hardware/software system. You enjoy diving into technical details, but you also know how to create clarity, set direction and bring out the best in a team.

You may already be an experienced Team Lead looking for a role with substantial technical depth—or a senior engineer who is ready to take the next step into formal leadership.

What you bring

  • Extensive software engineering experience: At least 10 years of professional software development experience, ideally including the development of a software product from the ground up through to production. Experience with Java and C++ is highly relevant.
  • Leadership potential: Experience in team leadership and people management is an advantage. Alternatively, you may have mentored less experienced developers and be ready to take on your first formal leadership role.
  • Strong systems understanding: A solid foundation in computer science, software architecture and system design, ideally complemented by knowledge of relevant standards and compliance requirements.
  • Linux expertise: Practical experience with Linux system management and a good understanding of system integration, build environments and release infrastructure.
  • A structured, proactive approach: You create momentum, establish clear priorities and take ownership of progress and results.
  • A collaborative mindset: You communicate clearly, build strong working relationships and enjoy working across disciplines.
  • Relevant education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Language skills: Fluency in English is essential. If you are not fluent in Danish, you should have a good understanding of the language.

Security clearance: Due to the nature of Arbit’s customers and products, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain a SECRET (HEMMELIGT) security clearance.

Why join Arbit?

  • Make a difference: Develop advanced cybersecurity solutions for international clients and help protect critical networks and sensitive information.
  • Shape technology and people: Influence core product development while leading a skilled team of engineers in a collaborative R&D environment.
  • Flexibility and benefits: Enjoy flexible working hours, the option to work from home, a pension scheme, healthcare, fitness facilities and team-building activities.
  • A close-knit team: Join a growing company with more than 25 employees, an informal culture and a strong team spirit.
